Man was trying to leave for work, but his neighbor’s cat insisted on giving him a “goodbye gift.”

Eddie was heading out the door when he noticed his neighbor’s cat sitting proudly on top of his car like it had been waiting for him. Then he saw what the cat had brought. A bird.

The cat looked way too pleased with itself, like it was presenting a trophy. Eddie laughed, snapped a picture, and texted his neighbor: “Found your cat outside, and it brought me a gift.” But before Eddie could even process what to do next, the bird suddenly flapped, slipped free, and flew off.

The cat froze, stared into the sky, and looked genuinely heartbroken, like it couldn’t believe the “gift” just escaped. Eddie said the cat stayed on the car for a minute looking defeated, so he gently shooed it down, gave it a quick reassuring pat, and walked it back to the neighbor.

“It’s okay,” he told the cat. “I actually wanted it to leave. But thank you for the thought.”
