For Monique Davaul, a 30-year-old mother from Newport News, Virginia, life was already full and busy. She was raising twin boys and preparing for what she thought would be another ordinary chapter in her family’s story. But life had something very different planned.
While getting ready to celebrate her 30th birthday, Monique received news that completely changed everything—she was pregnant again. At first, it seemed like a simple, joyful surprise. But soon, an even bigger revelation arrived during a medical check-up: she wasn’t just expecting one baby. She was expecting three. Triplets.
What began as a joke from a coworker—suggesting she might be having twins or even triplets again—suddenly became reality. Monique quickly called her coworker back to say they had been right all along. Her birthday celebration was immediately transformed into something far more meaningful: a gender reveal and a moment that marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey. The pregnancy came with challenges. Early on, she experienced severe morning sickness and required frequent medical monitoring every two weeks.
Eventually, she had to stop working around the fourth month as her condition demanded full attention and rest. Despite the difficulties, her focus remained on one thing—bringing her babies safely into the world.
On April 12, she gave birth via Cesarean section at Riverside Regional Medical Center. Two girls and one boy entered the world: Jihad, Mielle, and Noelle. Because of their early arrival, the triplets spent several weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit. It was a period filled with uncertainty, daily updates, and emotional highs and lows for the entire family. But slowly, progress came. One by one, the babies grew stronger. First two of them were discharged, and finally, just in time for Mother’s Day, the last baby came home—completing the family’s long-awaited reunion.
The hospital staff described the birth as a rare and memorable event, noting it was their first set of triplets delivered there since 2018. Even more remarkable, Monique had conceived both her twins and triplets naturally, without fertility treatments—a rarity in itself.
Today, Monique is embracing life as a mother of six, surrounded by children, laughter, and the beautiful chaos that comes with it. From twins to triplets, from surprise to strength, her story is a reminder that sometimes life grows in ways we never expect—but always in ways filled with meaning.
