Born Fighting: Damien’s Journey Through Courage and Hope

Damien Wong came into this world facing challenges that most of us could never تصور.
He was born with Amniotic Band Syndrome, a rare and complex condition that can affect a baby’s development in profound ways. From the very beginning, Damien’s life has been shaped by obstacles—he was born blind, with a cleft lip and palate, a deformed nose, and webbed fingers.
For his family, what should have been a moment of pure joy quickly became a journey filled with uncertainty, medical decisions, and emotional strength they never knew they would need.
Doctors have explained that Damien will require around 18 surgeries throughout his life. Each procedure is a step toward giving him the best possible chance at a healthier, fuller future—but it also means years of hospital visits, recovery, and resilience.
The road has already been long. In order to receive specialized care, Damien’s family has had to travel repeatedly from Hawaii to Los Angeles. Each trip is not just a flight—it’s a commitment of time, energy, finances, and unwavering love.
This coming May marks yet another important chapter in Damien’s journey. It will be their fifth trip back and forth, as Damien prepares for his third surgery—repairing his cleft palate on May 6. It’s a critical procedure that will help improve his ability to eat, speak, and grow.
Through every challenge, Damien continues to show a quiet, powerful strength. And his family stands beside him every step of the way, holding onto hope for brighter days ahead.
His story is one of courage, perseverance, and unconditional love.
Please keep Damien in your thoughts and prayers. Pray for a successful surgery, for strength through every step of this journey, and for comfort and hope for his family as they continue to fight alongside him. 🤍🙏
