A Warm Shelter for Street Dogs

In the district of Ventanilla, a small and touching routine has been bringing smiles to the people who pass by every day.

Near a local bank branch, several stray dogs have made the sidewalk their usual resting spot. During the day, they can often be seen lying quietly together, peacefully watching the world go by as if they’ve long become part of the neighborhood.

Over time, the people who work nearby also got used to seeing them there.

But something special happens when night falls.

As the temperature drops and the cold becomes harder to bear, some of the workers open the doors and allow the dogs to come inside so they can sleep under a roof. The tired pups quietly settle on the floor, curling up together and resting safely until morning.

Sometimes the workers go a step further.

A small bowl of food.
A little fresh water.

Simple gestures that help the dogs get through the night a little more comfortably.

For many people, it might seem like a small act.

But for those street dogs, it means warmth, safety, and a peaceful place to sleep—something they rarely have.

Moments like this remind us that kindness doesn’t always require big actions. Sometimes it’s the smallest gestures that carry the greatest compassion.

And thanks to a few caring hearts, these dogs know that even on the streets… they are not completely alone.
