Solange Tremblay is a veteran flight attendant who dedicated 26 years of her life to serving passengers in the skies. She spent decades helping others travel safely, never imagining that one day her own journey would take such a devastating turn.
On the night of March 22, tragedy struck at New York’s LaGuardia Airport. Jazz flight 8646, arriving from Montreal, collided with a fire truck on the runway in a violent and sudden impact. In an instant, everything changed.
The force of the collision was so severe that Solange was violently thrown from her position on the aircraft, sent more than 320 feet across the runway. When emergency responders reached her, she was found still strapped into her jump seat, alone on the cold tarmac—caught in the aftermath of an unimaginable accident. Her daughter, Sarah Lepine, later shared the heartbreaking details of her mother’s condition. Solange suffered catastrophic injuries. Both of her legs were broken in multiple places, with open fractures that required immediate and complex surgical intervention. Surgeons had to insert metal plates to stabilize the damage and begin the long process of reconstruction.
In addition to her leg injuries, Solange also sustained a fractured spine. Doctors are still carefully assessing whether further surgery will be required to stabilize her condition and prevent long-term complications.
Her injuries did not end there. As her body was dragged across the runway during the impact, she suffered extensive skin loss on her legs, leaving behind wounds that will require skin graft procedures and a long, painful recovery process. After her first surgery, complications led to significant blood loss, and she required a transfusion to stabilize her condition. Each step forward has come with new challenges, making her recovery uncertain and difficult.
While Solange continues to fight for her life in a New York hospital, the tragedy also claimed the lives of both pilots, a loss that has deeply shaken the aviation community and left behind a heavy silence.
Now, her journey continues—not in the skies she once served, but in a hospital bed where every day is a battle for healing, strength, and survival. Please keep Solange Tremblay in your thoughts and prayers. Pray for her recovery, for strength through every surgery ahead, and for comfort for her family as they walk through this heartbreaking time together. 🤍🙏
