Porsche the Lamb: A Story of Strength, Loss, and Unbreakable Spirit

In early July, a tiny lamb named Porsche arrived at Edgar’s Mission, bringing with her a story that is as heartbreaking as it is inspiring. Born without hooves, Porsche entered the world already facing immense challenges. Yet, from the very beginning, she has shown a remarkable resilience that continues to touch everyone who meets her.
Tragically, Porsche’s hardships did not end there. On the very day she and her mother were meant to be surrendered to sanctuary, she lost her beloved mum. In an instant, she was left to face the world alone — vulnerable, grieving, and still so incredibly young.
For the first ten days of her life, Porsche walked on rough, frosty ground without hooves, leaving her tiny stumps bloodied and raw. It’s difficult to imagine the discomfort and pain she endured. And yet, even through this, her determination to survive never faded. That quiet strength — so powerful in such a small body — became immediately clear to her rescuers.
From the moment she arrived at Edgar’s Mission, Porsche captured hearts. There was something undeniable about her spirit — a mix of courage, sweetness, and an almost stubborn will to keep going. It wasn’t long before she became a cherished member of the sanctuary, lovingly cared for by a team dedicated to giving her the best possible life.
Porsche now requires daily, hands-on care. Her bandages must be carefully cleaned and changed every single day to protect her sensitive legs and support healing. In time, she will be fitted with proper booties once she is strong enough, helping her move more comfortably and confidently.
While Porsche herself is priceless, the cost of her care is significant. Veterinary support, ongoing treatment, and specialized needs all add up. Despite this, the commitment to her wellbeing remains unwavering.
Her story is a powerful reminder of why compassion matters. It asks a simple but profound question: if we can choose kindness, why wouldn’t we?
Porsche may have been born without hooves, but she stands as a symbol of strength, love, and the incredible difference that care can make. And with continued support, her journey is only just beginning.
