At a sanctuary in Japan, a newborn macaque named Kiko faced the world alone after being rejected by his mother at birth.

No warm arms.

No comforting touch.

Caretakers placed a soft stuffed gorilla toy beside him—just something gentle to hold onto.

But to Kiko, it became everything.

For months, the tiny monkey hugged that toy like it was life itself. He slept with it, ate beside it, and carried it everywhere—even on the day he finally stepped out to meet the real troop for the first time.
