A Victim of the Illegal Wildlife Trade

In West Africa, wildlife authorities uncovered a heartbreaking case involving a baby chimpanzee being sold illegally by wildlife traffickers.

Chimpanzees are often targeted in the illegal animal trade, where young animals are captured and sold as exotic pets or for entertainment. Tragically, this often means their families are killed during the capture.

The young chimpanzee was frightened, stressed, and far from the forest where it belonged.

A Critical Rescue

Thankfully, wildlife officials and conservation groups intervened and confiscated the chimpanzee from the traffickers.
