The Rescue That Started It All

In Zambia, a young chimpanzee named Pal was rescued after being taken from the wild and kept in captivity. Like many chimpanzees affected by the illegal wildlife trade, Pal had lost his natural home and family.

But his rescue would become the beginning of something much bigger.

After saving Pal, animal lovers realized that many other chimpanzees were facing the same fate. They decided to create a safe place where rescued chimps could live freely and recover from their past suffering.

This vision led to the creation of the Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage, which would grow into one of the largest chimpanzee sanctuaries in the world.
