In parts of Asia, thousands of Asian black bear, often called moon bears, have been kept in cruel facilities known as bile farms. These bears are confined in tiny metal cages where bile is extracted from their bodies for use in traditional medicine.

During one rescue operation, animal protection teams discovered a black bear that had spent many years trapped inside a small cage. The animal was severely malnourished, weak, and barely able to move after a lifetime of confinement.

Veterinarians and rescuers carefully approached the cage and prepared the bear for transport. After years of suffering, the moment finally came when the cage door was opened.

For the first time in a long time, the bear stepped out into open space.

The rescued bear was transported to a wildlife sanctuary where it received medical treatment, proper nutrition, and a safe environment to recover. Slowly, the bear began to regain strength and rediscover natural behaviors such as walking freely, exploring the ground, and resting on grass.
