A dive faster than a race car

When hunting, the peregrine falcon flies high above its prey and then suddenly folds its wings to begin a steep, high-speed dive called a “stoop.”

During this dive, the falcon can reach speeds of over 320 km/h (200 mph), making it faster than most sports cars.

Precision hunter of the sky

Peregrine falcons mainly hunt other birds in mid-air. Using their incredible speed and accuracy, they strike their prey with their talons while flying.

The impact is often powerful enough to knock the prey out of the sky instantly.

Vision built for hunting

Like many birds of prey, peregrine falcons have exceptional eyesight. They can spot small birds from hundreds of meters away while flying at great heights.

This sharp vision allows them to track moving prey even during high-speed dives.

A global predator

Peregrine falcons are found on every continent except Antarctica, making them one of the most widespread birds of prey in the world. They can live in mountains, cliffs, forests, and even large cities where skyscrapers mimic their natural cliff habitats.

The king of speed

With unmatched speed, deadly precision, and incredible aerial skill, the peregrine falcon remains one of the most impressive hunters in the natural world.
